Wine is getting up there in age and I think beyond its consumption date but still had body, legs and a medium finish. We enjoyed it as a memory of Joe Phelps loading a case of wine into our trunk many years ago. The wine was tawny colored with moderate sediment in the bottle. It smelled like forest floor and medium toast.

Thirty Years of Phelps Insignia (1974 through 2004): The nose is much less assertive than the other two wines in this flight, and gives a straightforward red fruit. In the mouth this comes across as being much more structured. What fruit there is is darker. The finish is very drying. Still a very nice wine.

Fairly light red color, some bricking at edges. Not much fruit left in this one, but still a nice. elegant wine. Just a hint left of the mint that once was so prominent in this wine. Drink up! (60% Cabernet, 28% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc)

Insignia Vertical Tasting 1974-2004 (WA Frost, St. Paul): Great nose of earth/leather and rose petal. Carries through on the palate. Well-structured but the fruit is a little more faded here. The finish is a touch drying.
