  Original cork and capsule, this absolute stunner offered a ruby, tea-colored hue before discovering its dried flower, spice, cigar wrapper, mint, and strawberry-filled nose. Elegant, refined, soft, and silky with a sweetness to the red berry tea flavors on the palate, this was a gorgeous surprise for a wine over 100 years of age! Drink from 2022-2040.

  Potent, alluring, complex nose of white chocolate, vanilla bean, sweet blackcurrant, tobacco leaves, and clay. Couldn't get my nose out of the glass. But shows its 94 years on the palate, where there's little left but acid and vinegar awaits. So distinctive and impressive, yet frustratingly disjointed.

  At Bern's. Remarkably youthful color, with no bricking. Som said the bottle might well have been re-corked in the 1970s. Fabulous nose, strong cedar note, mushrooms, moist earth, a little barnyard, but still some cherry and strawberry. Palate is smoooooth. Still some red fruit with the cedar. The oldest wine I have ever had, but with Bern's very cold cellar, still young with some years to go. A wonderful experience.

  Purchased at Berns, this was the Baron Sarget bottling with a mid to high shoulder fill. It had a red/purple center with light red/orange rims. The high intensity nose of currants, blackberries, sandalwood, mocha, and mint. It had a 100 point nose.
  
  Not surprisingly, this wine tasted a bit funky for the first hour. It continued to develop for about 3 hours and was only at the 93 level after 1.5 hours. At its best this wine was refined, streamlined and complex. It had light rounded tannin and firm acidity. Some might complain it didn't have enough fruit but the complexity was impressive. It started to fade after 4 hours.
  
  Certainly ready!
