  Excellent balance, a bit more muscular and dark than the Alpine '08, both were in very fine shape and probably showed the best of the Pinots tonight (along with the Chalone '05 IMO). The staying power is quite remarkable of all the CA PN tonight, from 05 to 2010. CA PN EWG at Otono. 92-93

  Popped and poured at cellar temp. Cloudy dark red color, not much sign of age visually. Dark cherry, black pepper and pine needles with just a hint of cola on a dark brooding nose. Still big and burly on the palate as well - black cherry, mint and crisp acidity on the attack with some prominent tannins on the finish. I think there was a fair amount of stem inclusion at this point in the winemaking. This feels very young - drinking well, but I think some patience will be rewarded with another gear here. Another reinforcement that Horseshoe is my favorite Rhys Pinot site.

  Delicious slightly tart red cherries, spice, and forest floor notes on the nose and layered palate with refreshing acidity on the long finish.
