Cassis, loam, plum, earth, blackberry, a little graphite, smoke, wet leaves, and some wood on the nose. Blackberry, black cherry, red cherry, cocoa powder, raspberry, spice, earth, and some vanilla on the palate. Nicely balanced acidity, integrated smooth tannins, long-ish finish. Terrific mouthfeel, just round and centered on the mid-palate. Overall, this was a great wine. It was quite fruit-forward, but had lots of earthy complexity. It was also extremely delicious and easy to drink (glasses were drained way too quickly). One of the better merlots I've had in a while.

Nose of caramel, pepper and blackberry; mouthfeel from heaven; good, round flavors of cassis, bell pepper and sweet pie-cherry, with a good acid backbone. The finish goes on and on. It's hard to imagine a fruit-forward merlot that could be better. More in the cellar, too!

(Fielding Hills Merlot Riverbend Vineyard Wahluke Slope) Dark in color. Dark and brooding on the nose with blackberry, red fruit, mint, milk chocolate, and sweet spices. On the palate, big and bold with opulent yet refined black and red fruit and dry chocolate. Capped off by a tart, winding finish. 91% Merlot, 5% Syrah, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged 19 months in American and French oak (72% new). 14.5% alcohol. 190 cases produced. Sample provided by winery.

Really solid merlot. Still seems to have lots of life left too.

A very tasty Merlot that had a good amount of fruit and was very low in acidity.
