Spring Warm Up Tasting (The Lyon's Tree House): Four hour decant and it's Tony the Tiger (it's grrrreeaaaat!). "Cashmere sweater for your tongue." And tho' the texture is velvety, you don't ask Insignia for finesse! It has deep black fruit, mocha, plum, stone, and oak pouring over firm tannins, even at this age. WOTN.
Excellent modern style California Bordeaux blend, but a little heavy handed for my personal tastes. Lacks the finesse of a comparably priced Bordeaux. Fragrant Cab nose leads to a full bodied flavor packed palate, and a good finish. Still a little clumsy for this Bordeaux guy. Is it my imagination, or did California produce wines in the 70's and early 80's that were packed with flavor, but showed much less weight?
