My first Madeira experience. I really enjoyed this wine. Found it halfway between a port and a sherry - with the mouth-coating warmth of a port but the nuttiness and salinity of a sherry... Ripe figs and orange marmalade/orange peel. Delicious with mango and sticky rice dessert.
Madeira Pilgrimage; 2/1/2016-2/4/2016 (Madeira): Smells of polished wood and tart orange, some baked pear and sweet squash with cinnamon. Full of brown sugar and sweetness on the palate but this is still very balanced and maintains a salty tang on the finish.
