  When mature Lafon hits, oh man. When the Somm poured the one ounce taste, didn’t even need to. Aged white burg at its finest from 02 Charmes, still incredibly youthful and vibrant with captivating aromatics of spiced orchard fruit, toasted hazelnuts and butterscotch that comes in waves, and the palate is expansive, textural and stunningly complex, both rich and refined with a silky, crystalline mineral finish. Amazing wine.

  From Paris with Love, 2023 Edition; 11/24/2023-11/25/2023 (Paris): A wine that needs respect and a bit of preparation as it does need time to develop from pop to full performance. Not for everyone either. Nobly soft oxidative, still an undertone of richness , nutty, softy rich fruit. Well evolved tertiary now and a special bottle nonetheless. 93-94

  Tasted from a pristinely-cellared bottle that was popped and poured, this medium-to-deep golden wine delivers a core of pit fruits, orange zest, wet stones, ginger and jasmine. Medium-to-full-bodied, freshly acidic, proportionately oaked and without noticeable alcohol (13.5%), it stays dense on the mid-palate and concludes with impressive length. Comparably cellared bottles will last longer than previously projected when I last sampled this wine (from the same cellar) 7/21/2017. Drink now-2028.

  3 of 6 best bottle yet. Good color, initially tight took a full hour in the glass to open up. As noted in prior TNs this is leaner and more linear than most vintages. Crisp and engaging, great persistence and finish
