  Developed colour, but still intense enough, closed at first, needs time to open in the glass, gets more aromatic, dried black fruit, smoky, tannic structure, after some time gets softer.

  Beautiful wine. Deep scarlet in colour with little bricking. Nose of iron ore, coffee, cedar, cigars, leather and dark black fruits. Lovely yet firm tannic finish, it’s LLC and it’s a “75 right, but lovely especially with protein. A half bottle decanted for tomorrow night 18.5. Day 2 and this bottle is even better, with more complex fruits on show, glossy blackcurrants, coffee grounds and with the roasted vintage character appearing at the finish.   Medim crimson in color with distinct clearing & slight bricking at the edges. Full, forward & fragrant nose of mature, ripe fruit aromas of cherries, plums & cassis with overtones of earthy/dusty & herbal notes, tobacco, cedar, graphite, leather, gravel, minerals & a hint of iron/rust in the background. Medium bodied with a good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, aged, ripe fruit flavors of sour cherries, cassis & plums with earthy/dusty, herbs & minerals. Lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well at present but at 48 years of age it appears to be in its decline, so drink up. Ullage was at lower neck below capsule; cork was stained the 3/4 length but intact.

  [Blind] Deceptively youthful. Guesses included ‘80s and ‘90s. Espresso, lead pencil, leathers, drying red and black fruit. Dry, very structured, very classic. Clearly Bordeaux. Has some dark fruit hanging on. Grippy, tannic.
