From Magnum: Nose gave off that classic carlisle style with big fruit, oak and spice. All this was rolled with classic aged zinfandel notes of graham, soft fruit and pepper. Palate was completely fleshed out and ready for drinking. More graceful than other younger carlisle zins and rightfully so. This showed nicely and is fully mature.

Tim and Nancy in town (Ann's Avondale PA): Classic intense Carlisle nose. In the mouth it had an effervescent like quality that Ann and I didn't like. Not the best Zin from an outstanding wine maker.

($20) As usual, a big spicy, satisfying Zinfandel. A mouthful of briary red berry fruit with lovely aromas of clove and baking spices. Rather high octane, but the alcohol is not obtrusive. Has a pretty perception of sweetness on the palate.

($19) 15.9% from vineyards in Dry Creek Valley and Russian River Valley. Includes some Carignane and Grenache. Gorgeous nose has gotten more raisined with bottle age. Luscious dark berry fruit. Concentrated figs, honey, blackberry liqueur. No real sense of the high alcohol. Nice. Drink now.

($20) Yummy clove and other baking spices on the nose. Rich palate with enough acidity to keep it fairly light. Boatloads of flavor. Nice. Showed up the Turley Juvenile from the same vintage.
