At The Barn. This still seemed young. Decanted about 2.5 hrs and was all primary, bright cherry and never reacher that level of great aged LaLas where you’re experiencing so much. Was hoping for something more at this stage and given other reviews.

1998 Guigal Cote Rotie La Turque. Not as ethereal as the ‘99 La Mouline but spectacular and full of power. Took an hour to open but best after some more time in the decanter. Smoky campfire nose, if needed coaxing. Fully open palate of stewed cherry, white pepper, bacon, long finish with waves of secondary and tertiary autumnal leaves. Paired beautifully with morel and truffle topped steak. 97/100

Northern Rhone Dinner (2012/2005/1998 focus) (Chez Lagragne): Wow, benchmark mature Northern Rhone. Explosive and effusive nose with so much meaty, spicy, peppery black fruit. The palate is still so fresh and youthful yet laced with an array of meat, pepper, floral and spice nuances. Seamless and long finish.
