  • Another first for yours truly brought by a member of CDV713 in Houston.

I had this along side my contribution of JL Chave Hermitage 2012. Both these wines showed wonderfully side by side.

Rhone has the personality that captures my attention over the reds of Burgundy. The whites are a completely different animal.

    This was lovely.

  • At Nubiani NYC. Barnyard nose on opening faded in about 10 minutes, leaving behind a gorgeous bouquet of roses and tar. The wine is largely tertiary now with some berry preserves, leather, smoked meats on the palate. Finely integrated tannins, went down very smoothly. This was a solid bottle and at a very nice drinking window.

  • IT Super Peking duck lunch at Maison Dakota. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Shy. Not very expressive. Took some time to open up more.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Sediments at end of bottle.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of red berries, red plum, blackberry, olive herbs, wild leather, some animal meat. Bit of tobacco and black pepper with air. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), fine integrated high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of redcurrant, blackberries, red plum, fine spice, leather, grilled meat. Tobacco and black pepper with more air. Long finish.
Good quality. I would say this is a rather gentle Hermitage. Still could develop more in terms of complexity.
