The least interesting Sena I had in about 10 years, maybe the black duck will develop into a beautiful swan, but right now it's rather closed and not at all what I would expect from a Sena. It's usually, smooth, complex and very volubile...not in 2011. It's firmer than usual, with a very severe tanic structure. The palate is not very expressive and a thousand miles from what Sena usually delivers...I always said I could easily identify a Sena in a blind tasting, but it's no longer the case. I feel they've tried to copy other high profile international wines rather than staying true to their unique style.
Tasted next to 2013 Seña. Dark fruit, cherries, cassis, glossy and rich on the nose. On the palate grippy, good freshness, rather sweet, but very tight at present. Good length. Quite closed, needs time. 91-92+
Decanted for 3 hours and consumed over 2 more. A highly concentrated wine. Full bodied and tannic. Oak and blueberries dominated a wine which has many years left ahead of it. Give this 5 years and you should have a beautiful wine. Drink 2018-28
Dark garnet. Expressive nose of new oak, vanilla, dark fruit and some spices. On the palate medium bodied with soft tannins and again notes of wood and tobacco. Good fruit core. A bit modern form y taste but well built. 92-93.
Cabernet Sauvignon at C's: Young and oaky. Nice, sinewy palate with somewhat sweet dark fruit. Nothing overripe or over-the-top here. Impressive medium plus finish. Needs several more years in bottle but best wine in the first flight and easily the best wine from Chile I have had. 92+
