  • Dinner at Jade Palace. Another beauty of an aged white Burg. Oh so different as compared to the Leroy 1978 drank alongside, but this was absolutely charming in its own right. I actually guessed 2000s by its colour, nose and palate. This was bright gold, very clean and clear. Very sweet nose, some candle wax and flint, wet grass, stone, lemon and lime. Palate showed extremely good structure for a 1er, and from an unheralded vintage. Lots of citrus like fruits - kiwi, lime, Chinese pear yet with nicely matured secondary characteristics. Like the Leroy, this improved with time and lasted well throughout the evening. A lovely Chablis!

(François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux) Group's #5 (my #5) – 90 pts.; 4, 2, 0, 3 – light canary yellow color; intriguing soft creamy nose with oak note; sweet, almost syrupy lemon entry, sweet medium-bodied lemony and mineral mid-palate with an almond note, but lacking in acidity; medium-plus finish
