Holiday Champagne Gala (Wilmette Harbor Club): Tasted at gala dinner from some very large format (3L? 5L?). Great nose of mature black plum and cherry, still enough freshness with dried fruit, too. Leather, cedar, braised meat, and savory spice all contribute even more. Everything well balanced, sneaky good length. A great wine tonight.

It is always nice when older vintages show well as this did. Right off the aromatic profile, with its cigar wrapper, cedar chest, herbs, smoke, peppery red currants and spice let you know the wine was special. Soft, supple, medium-bodied, with earthy red currants and olives in the endnote, were hitting all the right notes.

Stunning wine! Incredibly vital as if less than 15 years old. Undertones of cherry, cedar in the mouth. Plenty of tannin without being overbearing. Nose was strong, fragrant and sustained throughout the tasting. Medium-bodied with even structure throughout. Amazing, joyous 69-year old.

My 4th 1952 tasting & dinner (1992, 2016, 2017 and 2019) (Michelin starred restaurant Cheval Blanc Heemstede, The Netherlands): Bottled by Ochsner (Bordeaux) for Hart's wijnhandel (Amsterdam); good level, lively colour and with a bouquet in between the Berberana Cosecha Especial '52 and the Lynch-Bages '53 (ripe fruit combined with riper tones). The acidity is maybe a tad too obvious compared to the medium bodied midtaste, but absolutely not severe. It is an elegant wine (it is the Comtesse!) in good condition and with a balanced aftertaste

Very young bottle with an intense nose with ripe dark fruit, damp dark earth, white pepper, coal dust and dried herbs. Velvety and seamless palate. 96+
