The bottle was perfect in every way, label, cork (although soaked), capsule, and base neck fill. Golden. On the nose it would be easy to assume this wine was going to be too much to handle with heaps of glycerin and heavily botrytised fruits overpowering the palate, but the nose was deceiving. On the palate the perfect level of acidity brought this wine into perfect balance and harmony. The wine was completely refined and elegant with far less glycerin and sweetness of so many other stickies, including other vintages of Yquem. The rolling layers of flavors go so far beyond the traditional apricot marmalade and honey and includes spiced applesauce, tangerine marmalade, lemon rind, vanilla creme brulee and more that I just seem to get lost in as the velvety wine fills your entire palate and stays with you for at least 45 seconds afterwards. Is it a perfect wine, probably, but I'm giving it an extremely rare 99. I'll consider revisiting it for its 60th Bday.

Mango, tropical fruit, coconut, white pepper, apricot, quite floral. Touch less concentrated but more acidity than the 1967 on the side, very balanced and large. 95

Good vintages of Yquem (Chicago, IL): Alternate whiffs of this wine yielded TCA. Slightly musty and dirty, and honestly pretty disappointing given what I expected this bottle held in store. On the other hand, whatever the funk was didn't really get worse either, but it was bad enough I didn't really care for the bottle.
