Old note from 1993. Beautiful mature Yquem. Intense developed aromatics: dried fruit, nuts, wax, honey... Very rich, long and complex. noticeable sediment.

Purchased 1977, not always optimally cellared. Cork black but came out intact. Deep yellow-brown color, rich nose of dried fruits and botrytis. On the palate, good acidity and orange peel, dried apricot; unfortunately, at the end there was a touch of latex which was bizarre and noted by several tasters. Actually held up overnight on the counter and tasted pretty much the same the next day. The purity of the fruit was impressive until the latex/acetone note at the end. Note to self: don't buy Sauternes for aging unless you have a really cool place in the cellar.

Orange, almost rusting bronze on the eye, a zesty tangerine peel and candied orange nose that opens into a full bodied lush liqueur of mandarin orange, sweet prune juice and dried pineapple, past its best but still a plateau of long decline, a great 40th birthday treat. Polished it off with chicken liver pate and blue cheese - superb.
Bottle in excellent condition. Initially a little closed on the nose, but opened up nicely with almonds, hint of honey, apricots, pineapple. Deep golden colour. On the palette, beautiful length, pineapple, apricots again, with some orange zest. The acidity was higher than I expected, but that made it actually very elegant and lively. Very interesting wine.
