  This wine was in good shape with a fine green gold colour and a rich nose of white peach, butter, oats and limestone. The palate is quite rich with butter around the lovely fruit well balanced with a quite intense stoniness that lifts this wine nicely. It is still quite fresh yet that richness suggests its a wine for now rather than for the decades ahead.

  Meursault with James Handford (Handford Wines, London): Oxidised, definitely affected by premox and even the second bottle James Handford generously opened albeit a better sample still was nowhere close to a healthy wine.

  Much more evolved in colour than the 2010 Comtes Lafon Charmes tasted before. On the nose quite strong notes of oxidation. Less obvious on the palate, but still rather flat and tired, lacking depth and balance. A second bottle which was generously opened after the tasting was unfortunately not much better.
