  • Initial flavor of umami. Tannins seem to be mostly resolved, still some noticeable and welcome acidity.

  • This wine is extraordinarily fragrant. Floral, mineral, with black fruit undertones.
Tannins dominate in the mid-palate but there is plenty of black fruit and acidity to balance.
Tannins again on the finish, which is also amazingly fragrant. The aroma of this wine lasts in the glass for half an hour after the wine is finished.
At 17 years of age the tannins are still so dominant, I wonder if they will ever resolve.
[Edit: the next day this has rounded out considerably, with rich fruit buffering the still massive tannins. Lots of life left in this wine.]

  • Drank the first one too early. 3 left. However, it is medium-bodied. gives light berries, mint and vanilla on the nose. not too chewy....wish it was chewier. but somewhat balanced red. as i said, drank too early and should shape up i imagine.
