Taco Night with Chef Eric: last of three bottles that I bought on release. one was consumed in 2008. one in 2013 and now this. This last bottle was by far the best. I really do love to age Mike's wines... IMO they gain a lot of complexity with time and do not lose their youthful appeal. Blackberry/blueberry notes, brambles, with air - very floral with violets and savory herbs... the nose is very complex and appealing. mid is ripe but juicy and fresh, with plum and cassis notes over the spicy(black pepper) herbal touches. another winner from Carlisle. Do give them time!

Trying to help the sister in law decide which wines to move to storage and which too give away ("chump off on", in the famous old world brother in law's parlance) to the kids and unsuspecting neighbors.
I have always enjoyed these wines despite the generally high alcohol and lack of lift. This one is rich and smooth with nice zin spice but is generally flat despite some spiky acidity. I know that lots of fans would disagree but this is one goes on chump list - just sayin'.

Black with a deep ruby rim. Complex nose of blackberry, boysenberry syrup with spice and incense aromas. Full bodied on the palate with very fine presence and some heat on the back end.

Great! Just the right amount of tannins and dryness. Great zin.

Still going strong. Nice nose with earth and bramble. On the palate, spicy, good acid, some red fruit. Still quite intense. Aging well
