The ruby color is beginning to show the slightest signs of age/development, but the nose and palate have yet to develop to their full potential. Glossy, texturally rich and tasty, this leaves me wanting more - more cellar time. HOLD another 4-5 years if you're wanting more than just a comfort food; I'd love to see it again in 10-12 yrs, actually.
Have coravin'd several glasses out of the same bottle; first glass was disappointing and shallow. Another pop glass from the same bottle three months later showed an aged new world nose of leather and ripe berries. Fine-grained tannins provide some up-front edge, but this is otherwise a fruit-driven offering, showing ripe black fruit with a modest finish. Much more enjoyable but still not a wine for long-term aging. Concur with 2018 drink-by date.
Decanted for 45 minutes...tasted during progression. This wasn't wine of the year by mistake! Drinks really well right now. Still has some legs to run a bit further...nice blend of red and black fruit... Balanced with a fruit entry but still has a nice composition of dirt and cassis and leather on the finish. Enjoy now or wait a year or 2.
