Wow, very ripe, but also loads of structure to support it. Nose of ripe blackberry and french oak. Rich mid palate. Good grip on the finish. Reminds a bit of some of the better Chilean cabs. Not my favorite wine style, but done well for the price range, and to accompany rich stews, this is what is needed. Did best out of a big Riedel Bordeaux glass (smaller glasses created to much focus on the alcohol and ripeness). Held up well to very rich braised beef shank.
P.S. Wow again as I look through the community notes, which are all over the place. It looks like so many bottles were flawed or cooked. I find ripeness, but nothing stewed or candied in my sample, and the ripeness is supported by some moderate acidity and a heavy doss of wood tannins. I also have the impression this bottle could have been held another 3 years easily.

We’ve had a large number of inquiries for this wine but I was unable to secure a well-priced parcel until this morning.
From the southern tip of Sardinia, surrounded by wild and protected land (near Porto Pino), the Shardana is an example that could only be produced from an environment that has grown without great influence from the Continent. Scattered pre-phylloxera Carignan vines co-exist with those merely 100 years of age (!) and the bottling of 2005 Shardana (the name given to the Sardinians by the Phoenicians) is a large-scaled and exotic success - not to mention, it is produced near one of the most stunning and unspoiled beaches in all of Europe.
For those of you looking for something a bit more than the low-impact, high acid staple we usually force upon you, this all-too intriguing example has the power (and poise) of something unique. The addition of a small amount of Syrah in the blend works wonders with the Carignan and the result is an aromatic and palate-staining cacophony that will make your lips smack. If you can imagine a char-grilled Fiorentina or slow-braised winter stew come December, instead of the requisite Cabernet or Chateauneuf du Pape, try the Shardana instead - it will spin a certain magic as an accompaniment (be sure to decant for one hour):
For the tariff, this wine is a bargain compared to other high-end examples. It presents a peek at a special vein of old-vine Carignan grown away from mainland of Europe. Somehow, they’ve managed to harness that essence and transport it to our shores precisely for your enjoyment...and your exploration...
