Very ripe fruit (perhaps forgivable given the vintage) but far too much volatile acid. Not obviously flawed, but very disappointing. Poor value, and not the first disappointing Chapelle I've had :-(

Very ripe, bordering on over the top, yet, it manages to blend freshness with layers of dark, ripe, black, red, and blue fruits, licorice, smoke, tobacco, liqueur, and black cherries. Full-bodied, opulent, intense, and with a touch of VA in the nose, this is ready to go. Drink from 2023-2035.

Too ripe for a big nose but a rich and intense palate. Didn't seem to be in any hurry to be drunk, as far as this bottle was concerned anyway. I'd say it would have held strong for a few more years. Not particularly complex, but this is proper, quality Hermitage. Took around 40 minutes of air to give all it was going to give.

(Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle) Very dark red violet color; ripe black fruit, stewed black fruit, berry nose; rich, deep, ripe black fruit, blackberry, lavender palate; needs 2-plus years; medium-plus finish

Another pristine bottle with perfect cork and ullage but heavily cork-tainted wine. Undrinkable and down the drain.
