Held up a bit better than expected in that it still had some fruit. But oddly was somewhat frissant. Very strange for a Zin especially at this age. Did it have residual sugar and continue to ferment in the bottle? Still drinkable but definitely different.

Nose of briar, dusty, dry gravel, chocolate decadence cake, and black cherry, same on the palate, very tasty, big body, mouth filling fruit, at/slightly past peak drinking window, time to enjoy this terrific Hayne Vineyard designated Zinfandel, sweet/sour fruit on the palate, and a long, savory finish. Photo uploaded.

Probably five or more years past the end of its drinking window. While the 2000 Hayne that preceded it was DOA, this was actually holding up better than expected. Nice dark red. Kind of pruney on the nose, but not unpleasant. Noticeable heat, but not too obtrusive. More prunes on the palate, along with a healthy dose of chocolate. Light-to-medium body and certainly not as plush as it probably was back in the day, but it produced a really rich and fairly lengthy finish.

My last bottle of old Turley zin, still sitting on a bit of PS.
This hasn't budgeted- for better or worse- than my last note nearly 2 years ago. Obvious alcohol on the nose, bizarre zing on the tip of your tongue (big acid addition?), and tons of chocolate.

20 yr old zin? No problem. This was terrific, balanced, fresh and what fruit!! Mature, but not over the hill and would drink another 5 years.
