Garagiste

(MARGUI Rosé () 2010 Dear Friends, Somewhere along a one-lane road, in a corner of the Varois where light appears to bend in a far different way than anywhere else in Provence, the wanderer will eventually come across a place of spiritual renewal. That place is Chateau Margui. Traversing Philippe and Marie-Christine’s property at Margui (one of the most inspired spots in winedom) gives the explorer a sense of antiquity and tranquility at every turn. Ancient aqueducts line the whitestone roads, bringing much needed water to vegetables and vines and a very old cistern serves as their modern “swimming pool” (with frigid, spring-fed water to match – surrounded by 18th century two-foot thick stone walls as the enclosure). If you’ve ever imagined what swimming in the Trevi Fountain would feel like, it’s close to the dream-like state you are transported to at Chateau Margui – a place that time and space have thoughtfully forgotten. For long-term email list members, you can probably skip the rest of the verbiage and go straight to the Niki link at the bottom – this is one of the only wines we offer every year that transcends customer background, experience, palate preference or other – every pocket and corner of the Email List seems to enjoy the coddled “antique label” Rosé from Margui and 2010 looks to be the finest vintage of this BIO/organic Provençal treat to date. From mostly Cinsault with a portion of Grenache, rarely have acidity, presence and unctuous texture so admirably coalesced... From Philippe (who is not one to toot his own horn – in fact, I cannot recall a time when he’s ever said his wine was good, let alone gorgeous): “The 2010 Rosé promises to be gorgeous. I think its our best Rosé from the beginning. It has freshness, superlative fruit and great concentration”. If Philippe is calling this their best Rosé, I believe we are in for something memorable... Due to limited quantities and tiny allocations, that’s all I will say (for previous comments and TN’s on Margui, please check community notes – for more information on this beautiful piece of terroir in southern France - http://www.chateaumargui.com ) ONE SHIPMENT ONLY – bottled expressly for you (next week) from the “pick of the litter” barrels – in other words, this is not something you’re going to find anywhere else (this is their best possible example - a particular top-end selection from Phillipe and Marie-Christine straight to your cellar – provenance indeed). 2010 Château Margüi Côteaux Varois Rosé - (compare at + but not with this level of provenance) FIRST COME FIRST SERVED up to 24/person until we run out To order: niki@garagistewine.com This parcel is set to depart the cave – it will arrive in early March (please check OARS for local pick up after March 1st). It will ship during the Spring shipping season in plenty of time for summer and fall enjoyment (keep in mind, this rather serious rosé is not one to sip and quickly forget – it should age well beyond the normal curve). Out of state orders will be held for free under ideal storage conditions (56 degrees/70%humidity) until shipping is possible. Locals may pick up at their leisure. For current local pick up and arrival/ship information, please see your OARS link below (at the bottom of this offer) - don’t know how to access your OARS? Simply click the link and see your account.
