Delicious aged Barolo. Needs 2+ hours of air to show its best. Tar, cherry, menthol, balsam. Light on the palate but with beautiful fruit concentration.
Extended air brings forest floor and truffle. Auction purchase for $50, more than got my money’s worth. Little bit of seepage but hasn’t seemed to affect things too much.

Reddish brick with orange rim. After about 3+ h of opening, shows spices, dark florals with dried red fruits and tar. Sensual and silky palate opens with sweet balsamic red cherries, tar, medium acidity, sneaking nebb tannins on the back palate and a long perfumed finish. This is drinking very well now.

LWS Barolo Through the Decades: Double decanted one hour before serving. Translucent garnet color. Barnyard and mushroom aromas on the palate along with some very present tomato leaf and soy sauce. Medium-plus body, strong tannins, medium-plus acid. Lots of cherries on the front with nice savoriness into the finish.

Possibly detect faint corkiness. More developed than my last foray a year ago. Tannins still firm. Not drinking badly but some more to come.
