Tempier masterclass (Basement, 67 Pall Mall): magnum. 80% Mouvedre from sandy soils in front of the domaine. A touch more animale. mellow and nuanced maturity on the nose. A little flatter on the finish. Lacks the mid-palate vibrancy of the 2005s. (*)***

Needed about 45 min to blow of the musty nose and then it showed lots of fruit and [still] firm tannins. After about 2 1/2 hours in the glass it was starting to loose its body and started to become flat... Drink it soon! This wine was from a 375 bottle.

9 Blind Mourvedre: The nose had red berry, baking spice and tree bark aromas. As soon as someone said they smelled tree bark, someone guessed that this was a Tempier. I haven't tasted many Bandol wines at all, so I didn't know that was a tell for the region until after this tasting. The palate had spicy red fruit flavors, earth and some heat. I would not have guessed that this was 16 years old at all. I thought this was maybe a 5 year old wine. A 5 year old wine with a big mouthfeel and a port-like alcoholic finish. I had a hard time enjoying this as much as others in the group did.

Mag. In prime condition. Warm assertive nose. Assertive but heavenly balance. Very long, very delicious.
