Tasted together with 2002 Charmes Chambertine from the same producer. It is relatively close compared to the more fragrant Charmes Chambertin, but more structured with spice/more tannin. Long finish with more focus and precision. The wine became much better on second day with more fruity note without losing its structure.

Tasted blind – A dark fruited array of young and sweet dark berries, blackberries, smokey oak barrels and earthy minerals. Destemmed with ample new oak (reminds me of Meo Camuzet style in a rustic vintage). Generous body with drying wood tannins on the palate, showing some maturity. 2008? Echezeaux? (89/100)

On first opening I immediately recognised the description by Paul S. It is very tight, buttoned up, unyielding, and unwelcoming, but underneath there is the sense of a serious wine. I left it overnight under Coravin, but next day I opened it early and gave it a fairly brutal Fourrier Shake. Now it shows power and depth, and a long tannic finish. It displays its heavyweight credentials. But not yet balance. I don't know where this is going, but I don't intend to open another bottle for some time.

Bt breathed for an hour, nose has fresh strawberry and hint of anise. Medium concentration on palate, apart from the fruit there is hint of oak spice and slighy grippy tannin and smoke. Medium finish and what you pay is what you get in burgundy :D
