This might have been an a slightly off bottle. I thought I sensed a bit of overmature fruit and a slight vinegar smell. The cork looked great but somehow I wasn’t captivated by the nose. There was something slightly dirty and funky about it. Other tasters thought it was a very good wine.

This is a gorgeous and refined Burgundy but still quite dense and strict in style suggesting maybe more time is needed. Got better and better in the glass with this amazingly gritty and finely dense texture and superb grip and intensity. Chiseled is not a word I often use for Burgundy but this wine gives that impression. Drunk alongside the '02 Dujac CDLR, this couldn't compete with that wine's purity and seductive style. 93+

2002 Domaine du Clos de Tart Clos de Tart. Pale ruby, amber edges, viscous (14.8 alc.); earthy, gamey, red and black fruit, smoke and oak nose; low-mid acids; mid-tannins; good Pinot Noir fruit, with depth; long semi-tight red fruit finish. Delicious with roasted veal loin. 17.5-18 UC Davis scale, 93-94 other scales.

Tasted blind, thought it was a 2010 vintage. Very masculine wine. It only show that the wine are very well make and big and bold for ageing. Pronounced nose intensity with red fruits, strawberry, spices, toast. Medium+ acidity and tannin. This have a long ageing potential. Can drink or keep.

Still so young and fresh. Color is on the dark side. Loads of overripe black cherry on the attached but the fruit is far from jammy or too extracted. The depth of the fruit is balanced out by some lovely earthen notes, a little vanilla Oak to add a touch of creaminess. Tannins are smooth and thick but completely pliable. Came back to it an hour later and the wine was still showing very well. This bottle still had another handful of years in top form left in it.

(Mommessin Clos du Tart) Medium-plus colour. The nose shouts deep, black-edged, creamy cherry and a little coffee - not so wide. The soft entry delivers you sweet, interesting red-shaded fruit The tannins are very well covered by the concentrated fruit - builds well from the mid-palate into a super, mouth-watering finish - it just melts away. Today it's certainly a hedonist's wine rather than an intellectual wine - but if, with time, it builds some complexity it will be a very fine bottle.
