  • Bottle #4 of 6. Enjoyed over two nights. This wine's hallmark is its balance - fantastic fruit still, beautiful acidity and enough structure to hold it all together and provide superb detail, just enough bottle age to show plenty of complexity, and not too much oak - just enough to keep it full and rich and provide mouth feel and texture. Still huge, chiseled red black and purple fruit, with a wonderful crisp green note, almost like stem inclusion, that I associate with this vineyard. Good for another 2-4 years, but it's stupendous now.

  • Finished it tonight 2 nights after opening and it was as good or better...probably has a good future at least a few years. Beautiful classic Zinfandel open knot nose of spicy berry and pepper and cedar and on the palate same dark berry, cherry, leather, cigar box and spices with medium weight and solid finish. This is in a great place right now. Another great wine and value from Mike Ofiicer.

  • Almost two years ago, I thought this wine might be fading. If anything, it seems more vibrant and less muted now than it did back in mid-2014. Unfortunately, it struck me as a little too sweet, a condition that might be corrected by an appropriate food pairing (BBQ), more bottle age, and/or longer and better aeration. Aside from the sweetness, it was well balanced, without noticeable heat.

  • Consistently a top wine from what turned out to be a terrific vintage for Carlisle. Great aromas of dark fruit. Cherry-blackberry fruit without being jammy and well integrated tannins. Just right acidity. Still young enough to last a few more years.

  • Decanted 3 hrs. The 09 Carlisle Vineyard is in the zone and a terrify showing last night. Perfectly balanced between youthful, rich plum and other exotic Zin-esque goodies with layering and complexity. My last bottle, and a top ten Carlisle Zin for my palate.
