Already showing sediment on the shoulder. Surprised I actually had any of these left. This bottle is starting to get there, but honestly is still about 5 years from being "there". Bottle decanted for 2 hours. Nose is brambly blackberry and fig. Front is earthy blackberry, tobacco. Middle is where fig starts to creep in. Finishes dry....very strong tannin but with an excellent condensed blackberry backbone. O'Shaughnessy and their neighbor Cimarossa both seem to be medium + bodied with blueberry and blackberry when released but within 5 years tend to turn to "the dark side" with a nice full bodied and slightly chalky mouthfeel. Great bottle shared tonight with family.
This was really fantastic. It is a little young, still with a bit of a tannic bite (but not a ton). Had this from a decanter over 4 hours. Really beautiful wine. A much cooler styled cab, violets, sweet herbs, bursting dark fruits, long mineral finish. One of the most enjoyable cabs I have had in a while. Would benefit from another 3 years or so in bottle. I will plan to open the next in about 2018-2019.
