  • Truly amazing wine, tastes like it only has a few years on it at 20

  • Blind. Minty, almost eucalyptus-y but not showing much on the palate; seems rather generic. How different from the extracted fruit monster (same wine) a few nights before.

  • Unblind. Extracted blackberry and blueberry fruit, spicy oak, grumpy tannins. Not bad but in a tasting where other WA cabs its age showed more secondary development and elegance, it lacked appeal. Dare I suggest that another 3-5 years will help?

  • What an excellent wine! I had only had this once before, shortly after release. The cork was in perfect condition, soft yet not mushy, and just the edge of the cork had any markings. The tannins have melded, and had adequate and balanced acidity. I decanted for about an hour, and the aromas were noticeable without placing the nose to the decanter. Notes of cranberry, sour strawberry, with just a touch of oak. Drinking very nicely now, but I think it can go a few more years easily. A great value, and i think it may be a disservice that the published drinking window on this was much too short.

  • Intense sweet strawberry and spice aromas. The wine is definitely well aged at this point. Nice deep red garnet with a fringe of brownish maroon marking its aged quality. The taste is that of concentrated stewed strawberry preserves, with undertones of red currant and raspberries. Italian herb qualities come out as the wine opened up after about two hours. At about the three hour mark, exotic spice of bergamot and vetiver. A fair amount of tannins and acid, so may hold up to a bit more aging, but stands up to food quite well now. Fruit leading to herb and then a slightly dry, tannic, acidic finish with lots of spice.
