The first thing to note is that this wine is carrying 17.5% ABV! And yes the alcohol does protrude on the palate. It is big and rich, full bodied, with attractive sweet blackberry, damson and mulberry notes. The structure is softening now. There are some pepper and mulling spices in this dark and brooding wine. Long and complex. Drink now, will last a few years.

Really nice wine and far superior to its sister wine Reva of the same vintage. This is fully mature, but not over the hill, and was extremely generous on the palette, especially when compared to the 86 Gruaud Larose drunk beside it. A mountain of red and blue berries, ash, mint, black tea, and a nice dose of minerality made this a crowd pleaser, this was a nicely structured New World wine that was not cloying or overly sweet like some big NW wines can be. Fun juice.

Finally lost it's baby fat, but drinking oh so fabulously. Very food friendly, and perfect with Christmas ham. No need to hurry and open this. Incredibly rich still.

Good Wine with an Exciting Super Bowl (Chez Kailin - Northbrook IL): Small glass, brief note. Very reductive, very concentrated, but modest structure at best. I don't like the balance, but I also just don't really like the wine.
