TN; Wines under $18: The groups WOTN and right up there for me as well. Good value here. Inky purple in color. Black raspberries, earthy with some pepper on the nose. Slight heat on the palate, but not bad. Juicy black raspberries and leather. Nice finish. Worked well with food as well.

Smokey, meaty and earthy flavor with pretty heavy tannins.
Had this wine during a 5 person blind tasting with 3 other bottles of WA and Argentinian Malbecs. This was the final order although the scores were very close and three different wines recieved the highest score from the 5 tasters. 1) 2007 Dusted Valley Malbec, 2) 2009 Familia Zuccardi Q Malbec, 3) 2008 Bodega Catena Zapata Malbec and 4) 2008 Fidelitas Malbec.
Disappointing result as this was my vote to win prior to the tasting.

Blue/black fruits and vanilla with ripe tannins and decent acid. Not very complex or interesting, but a nice pairing to a meat-centric meal.

Lots of sweet fake oak on the nose. But hey, if its at $15 its killer, $19 just ok.
