Dark ruby turning crimson at the rim with reflective edges. Floral notes of violets, lilac, dark berries, and vanilla. The palate is clean, refreshing and full-bodied with a heightened sensation. Flavors of plum, cherry, spice, and dark chocolate form the core on a well-balanced, elegant platform. Finishes long and spicy with notes of dried herb and tobacco. Drink now until 2018.

Hari Raya Haji 2013 (Lei Garden & Dakota): Tasted blind. Decanted for more than an hour before tasting. Strong sweet aromas I could smell even at arm's length as I was poured a glass. Tasting bright and energetic in the mouth. Sweetness a bit too much candy-like. Lots of red cherries and some strawberries on the palate. Smooth mouth-feel and some of the typical Shiraz spice towards the finish. I guessed about 5 year old Aussie Shiraz, one of the lighter styles, not the blockbuster Barossa type. This could be better with a bit more age, 89 points for now.

Opened and let breath in the glass for 30 minutes. Very light color and weight for a shiraz. Nice fruit nose. Strawberry cream, pomegranate, hints of leather on the nose. Alcohol a bit of chocalete nose even some cheese. Tasty fruit, but good alchol mix. A little bitter taste but held in check. Candy flavor like cherry jolly ranchers. A little artificial, manipulated a bit, but enjoyable. Good tanins dry. Nice Cherry flavor a bit of tobacco. Would like to try it again.

Big fruit, boderline overripe for me, but Mum loved it so that's a win! Oak was definitely there, but starting to integrate well.

Exactly what you would expect in Aussie Shiraz. Nothing more, nothing less.
