Color is a dark honey, almost caramel. Still alive and vibrant, everyone liked it and it went well with a pear tart dessert. Drink sooner rather than later.

The 1995 Clos Sainte Catherine is showing really well today though I suspect there is additional upside with continued cellaring. The pluot, apricot, mushroom nose is really a delight of mature Chenin Blanc. It’s just honeyed enough to provide an appeal as dessert in its own right. The 96 seems to edge it out at the moment but it should be a long race.

After a number of bottles of wine, the table popped this dessert wine. I found this bottle to be a real stunner. Chenin Blanc-- light orange marmalade, apricot, light, crisp. Super way to finish a nice dinner!

10th and 11th bottles of a case opened with crowd pleasing results. Apricot, orange marmalade and honked notes without being cloying. More complex in the mouth than many Sauternes that are much more expensive. Will look forward to the last bottle.

Honeyed apricot, in a lighter, moderately sweetish package. Very nice.
