  • 1 hour in decant, but would've benefitted from more.

Nose is dominated by dark, brooding fruit, chocolate, minerals, and blossoming violets. Balanced, dynamic body with strong bones, great acidity and freshness but clearly far from peak. Finish was long and entrancing.

Built to age; I actually enjoyed it young but think it will be in a prime window in 3 - 5 years. A great fresh wine in a great vintage.

  • Fantastic Italian wines. Absolutely food-friendly. We started with a powerful and young 2007 Paolo Bea Montefalco Sagrantino Pagliaro. Deserves a few more years in the cellar Then a mesmerizing 2008 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco. WOTN. Third time I drink this wine. Again spectacular. Finally, one of my favorite producers. 2010 Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis. Stunning vintage, but this one right now, is beautiful monolith. Forget it in the cellar for the next 10 years at least. I've drunk this wine twice: 2015 and 2017. More effusive both times

  • nose - raspberry
mouth - mellow, raspberry, complex, almost liqueresque without being confected; lovely, good acidity. Per Dani mint.Nice showing

  • Al's blt from holiday party. Don't know how much air this saw. Still youthfully primary but already showing some of the signature weightless elegance of all Giacosa Barbaresco. Not sure where this Fallettlo designation is sourced? red fruit, tar, spice, mineral and some nebbi rose petal aromas. Mostly holding back right now. If scoring it I would give it 90pts based on how its drinking right now. Pleasing but no wow yet.

  • Suffered in a flight of 97 Santo Stefano and 98 Santo Stefano Riserva. A good, but too young Barbaresco. Showed rather simple, with a classic structure and balance. I think this will improve with time but will never hit amazing heights.
