On vacation in Estes Park Co / RMNP with the extended family. Took this out to dinner on one of our last nights. This cuvee may lack the sure complexity of the Grands but still displays all the fruit purity, ethereal grace, elegance & weightless balance of Rousseau's best. Especially in 2010. World class fruit is nurtured here. Purchased long ago when this was still eminently affordable. Excited to own 2 more. 93+

amazing wine for village level, nose is sublime, on the palate it lacks depth compared to 1er cru and grand cru level, but amazing balance, in a great spot

Overall, this was in its prime. Seems like plenty of life ahead of it. No signs of overly aged at all. Fairly big wine for a village PN. Terrific length. Wish I had more to continue to follow. Good stuff.

A very good village Rousseau Gevrey. Generally a wine that I am not hugely fond of chez Rousseau, not because it is not a good village Gevrey, but just because I don't feel it transcends the category like others can and I am always left thinking that is it "just" a good village Gevrey, not more (but also not less). And then there is the price tag (not Rousseau's fault). Back to the wine itself - really nice perfume of cherry fruit, on the palate effortless too with mineral precision but tiny bit short if one were to quibble. The vintage helps here to give it balance and volume. Good Gevrey village 2010. Not more and not less. Would probably give it 5-10 years to develop more nuance.

Dinner at Jua. Courtesy of Jason. This was shut down and, honestly, didn't get a lot better with air; by the end of the night all I was getting on the finish was acid. Surprising for Rousseau, but there's definitely variability on 10s in terms of how open they are. Not too much point in writing more of a note on a wine that was clearly very unhappy at being opened.
