Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: February 2020 edition (@home): Glass: Riedel Vinum Syrah Popped and poured, drunk over two days. Tasted blind. Clear, medium garnet color. Clean, medium intense, developing nose with lots of clean strawberry fruit, herbs and spices. Juicy, round and soft. Dry, medium acidity. 13% abv. Medium, silky tannin. Medium body. Sweet, ripe strawberry and cherries, combined with a mineral core and some white pepper. Very round, soft and harmonious. Good balance, juicy. Long, fruity finish. Can certainly age, but I can’t predict, where it will go. Nice experience though. 88-89+

fresh and slightly stewed cranberry, Maraschino cherry, mushroom, forest floor on the nose
Palate follows nose with more emphasis on fruit and gentle vanilla notes. Has a bright acidity and medium tannins that give it another couple of years to live. Would have been nice to have some food with this. Will revisit.

Spicy with cinnamon, clove and alluring red fruit nose. Has shed the primary stage and comes across as sappy, charming and harmonious. Good acidity levels to balance. Maybe in its sweet spot now.

Red, srarting to show maturity in the glass
Very ripe seet fruit, mainly strawberry (jam), also a bit darker fruit.
Good fruit and concentration, very long. Strawberries and cherries on the palate as well.
A very good not too complex red Burgundy which is suprisingly developed, suspect this will not improve much further from cellaring!
