Popped and poured. Took it's time to open up. Still had sharp tannins after an hour - a bit mouth puckering. Beneath the tannin was deep notes of black cherry and plum. Seems to be in an inbetween phase. Would hold for a year.
Wine tasting party - Nice purple color in the glass. Wonderful aromas of red fruit; all eight tasters loved the nose. Some felt a bit of effervescence in the mouth and bold fruit flavors. We then tried it with dark chocolate and agreed this was an excellent combination.
Served double-blind at a CT offline. Easily made my Top 10 list on the day. Each time I have a VC, whether it is a fairly new release or one with some age it, I come away consistently impressed. Sure, it's a new world take on the grape, but sensibly so, and manages as much character as many Spanish examples costing twice as much. highly recommended
Juicy goodness that starts with candied apple on the nose, hits the tip of your tongue with a blast of sweet fruit and then the complexity comes out mid-palate with a long finish that's still lingering as I write this. The finish feels almost carbonated - very cool! Stems up!
