  • Last of 3 magnums, decanted 30 minutes, perfect cork and level, clear step up on previous note, tannins nicely resolved and much more harmonious and balanced, real breed for Italian wine, probably even better in five years! Certainly F+ (18).

  • 1st of 3 mags, decanted an hour - deep dusty red, little development; decent bouquet, plums and earth, quite simple; fullish, long and persistent, merlot like if without complexity of top right bank claret, consistent with nose, slightly dusty and hot, scope for improvement yet, slightly disappointed relative to hype, not fine. Very good indeed (17/20).

(Podere Il Carnasciale Il Caberlot) From magnum - very dark red violet color; mature, sweet green herbs, tobacco, lavender, light brett nose, reminiscent of a mature Lynch Bages; delicious, velvety textured, tart black fruit, tobacco, mineral, tar, tart black currant palate, reminiscent of a mature Figeac; good now and should go 15-20 years; long finish
