2010 Guidalberto: lucent ruby with a narrow intesnse garnet rim. woody, mushroom/soy, alcohol on the nose. Pencils saving with dark boxwood leaves mushroom, medium acidity, medium body, medium+ alcohol, dry, medium- furry tannin. Vanilla on the palate. Woody and plummy finish with minerality/savory freshness. Good balance, okay intensity, good complexity, okay finish. A good wine. But for the length of finish, it is not yet at left bank grand cru classe level.
As a few others have pointed out, this was a bit of a disappointment. On the nose it was pretty boring, mostly wood and some red fruits. On the palate it didn't really deliver (for the cost of about €35). There were some notes of plums, cherries and black currants - but it was dominated by oak. Unfortunately.
This is an okay wine. Not worth $35. A 2 hour decant has improved the enjoyment since my last bottle. Nice clear red/garnet color. Violet on nose. Shallow front and back palate. Overall thin body. Did okay with food.
