Wine Tasted at Acker Auction (Marea - New York NY): In 04/80/76 vertical. Densely packed with intense power and concentration, in a manner that is rarely able to maintain this degree of impeccable balance. Ripe black and red cherry and berry with savory spice and faint meatiness. Some tasters preferred the 1980, but this wine's density and heft gave it the nod from me.

JK's 50th Birthday: 007108/9120. Always one of my favorite vintages for the Domaine, immediate ripe fruit and sweetness, super attractive. Ever so slightly behind the 80 in terms of complexity (despite it being very very complex itself), but what an attractive nose. 97-98

attractive slightly bronzed, medium-red colour. brown sugary hot year nose loaded with super-ripe fruits and baked prunes. sublime nose after airing: dazzling array of spices and dried flowers mingles with classic beetroot drc scent and humus, autumn leaves undertone. beautifully structured palate is a mouthfilling blend of sweetly, earthy, toasty, sappy flavours with reverberations of great delicacy, and perfect integration of tannins. extemely long, refined finish. overall more high-toned than la taches drunk with: the essence of breed.

HDH Dinner (Les Nomades): Out of jero...naturally. Initially this was pretty reserved compared to the 1970 alongside it. But over 40min, this took on much more spice, red and black fruit, iron notes, nutmeg and other spices. Painfully detailed with layers of complexity I am not smart enough to describe. Fully of finesse and elegance yet plenty of power. In a stellar lineup, this was a stand out and something special. Finish lasts for hours.

Less than an ounce brought to me from another table, thank you! First it is hard to believe this wine is more than 10 years old. Aromas of earth and spice. Big fruit flavors lasted for over a minute. I loved it very much maybe in part because I knew what it was but the bright fruit from a 35 year old wine was amazing. There was simply "nothing wrong" with this wine. "It was so smooooothe and layered with fruit"… Simply amazing!
