At the LPAC Women's dinner at Stephanie's House: this drank great, with bright red fruit, cherry, raspberry, good minerality and a decent pairing with the chicken and the roast leg of lamb. As a bonus the wine has a female winemaker.

18c; no decant; clean reddish-purple; subtle nose of red fruit, carmel (sweet), mulch; bright attack (Burgundian striver), clean acidity, velvety fruit with a hefty finish (thanks to high alcohol—that port-like finish from CA Pinots); touches of bacon and schist, red fruit, carmel apple, red licorice; better than the usual ‘hot Pinot’ from CA; 16.5

Black fruit, and some dustiness. Good acidity on the back end. Light on the fruit up front. Not really the fruit forward profile typically associated with CA, nor the restraint and mineralality that goes with Burgundy.
9/7/2016 Similar notes. Very food friendly, if not particularly inspiring.

(Arista Winery Pinot Noir Russian River Valley) Pre-release (2/13 release) - medium dark cherry red color with pale meniscus; tart strawberry, cranberry, raspberry nose with a bit of sous bois; tasty, tight yet, ripe raspberry, cranberry, mineral, light sous bois palate with firm texture and medium acidity; needs 1-2 years; medium-plus finish (14.6% alcohol, 15-20% new oak)

More fruit and lower tannins than the 2008 bottle. Blackberry, a little earth, but more balanced fruit and acidity. Very good.
