Still plenty of life in this bottle. Had many Oregon Pinot's over the years but Beaux Freres consistently produces one of the best wines in the region.

Popped and poured. This is a light red wine with virtually no sediment -- surprising given the prominent unfined/unfiltered promo. On the nose, I get strawberry, cinnamon, and baking spices. In the mouth, this is crisp with modest red fruit. Overall, this hits the varietal and the region, but is not really distinctive. Still, it is hard to complain about the output on this $50 Pinot. 89 points.

I'll say again, for years I drank this wine too soon and was routinely under impressed, but give it 6 or 7 years of cellar time and it really starts to shine. Tonight it was beautiful with an expressive nose of earthy, dark red fruit and Asian spice undertones, all of which were reflected in the penetrating, midweight palate that also had some underlying cola notes. There was still a little bit of chalky, unresolved tannins on the longish finish, but all in all, this was quite nice tonight and drinking very well within a 1/2 hour of opening.

In the past, I've made the mistake of drinking this producer's wines too early, when they've been very primary and simple, they really need 6 or 7 years to flesh out. Tonight, this was very nice with lots of earthy, dark red fruit, good depth and complexity and a midlength finish. Quite enjoyable and in a good place right now.
