  • Great Chardonnay - timid nose that will develop further down the line, medium full body that is seamless and elegant with perfect balance between ripe fruit and good amount of acidity. Some green, verbena-like notes the mid palate and finish which makes me think this has some more miles to go, but drinking great right now.

  • This wine was fantastic. Had a great balance between reductive aromas and citrus/tree fruit with an accent from a judicial use of oak. The acidity was persistent and long but not green and I imagine it will age very well over the next 5-10 years.

  • Opened last night where it paired terrific with a kale, arugula salad with lime/olive oil dressing. Tonight, simply drinking at sunset without food to capture this note. There is a chill on this, too. Has a sea air aromatic, that freshness that comes with Chablis. To the palate, what stood out last night and also tonight is a core of pineapple, along with pear and green apple. When the wine warms up some, shedding the chill, the tropical aspect of the pineapple becomes central to the flavor. I enjoyed this fruit component, not one I have noted in some of the recent Chablis I have tasted. There may be a kiss of oak here too, adding some texture to the wine but if it's much, it's done smartly as there isn't any vanilla bean or marshmallow flavor muddling it up, fortunately. Finishes with the green apple flavor, some slate too. This seems a little bigger in body, more ripe in tone than the 2011 Butteaux, which I also bought and drank recently. Drink window? This is good now but the slate and green apple keep it fresh. Say now through 2017.
