  • Still a deep, saturated red with scarcely any bricking at the rim.
This wine has mellowed and settled down, the rough edges, hallmark of the vintage, have disappeared respectively are fully integrated. What has come to the surface is a slightly bitter, medicinal smell and taste. It is barely perceptible but mars the overall impression a bit. A pleasant glass; but Overall on the monochromatic side, without much tension, depth or length.
I think it is on the descending slope; would suggest that you drink up what is left in your cellar. On the second day the wine has markedly improved: Now cherries and cocoa on the palate and the nose and it also has a lot more tension. Now I like it.

  • IPNC Weekend 2023; 7/26/2023-7/31/2023: Medium red color with a 5mm transition to clear. PNP, drank a glass over an hour at Le Pigeon in Portland. Oddly enough, it's been almost exactly 10 years since I had this last at Berstrom on another WV trip. This has developed nicely and shows such poise and class from a cool and wonderfully ageable vintage that I adore; and coming in at a delightful 12.75% ABV too. There's an emerging perfume here with wild strawberry, earth, mushroom, cherry, soil and ultrafine dried tobacco on the nose. The palate is medium bodied, elegant, strawberry, tart cherry, mushroom, a touch of iron minerality, and a cool crisp palate with fine grained tannins. Love this. 93+pts.

  • At 12 years this bottle is drinking amazing. I did a pop and pour initially to check in on it's quality and was blown away by the massive tannins. Over the next hour the fruit showed up and balanced out the tannins. Such a great bottle, wish I had more.

  • Limpid, translucent red color; just a touch of "rust" at the rim.
Deliciously fine, mature bouquet of a well aged Pinot. Quite delicate but very attractive and charming.
Pinot at its best.. this wine is singing today!
On the palate it is on the lighter side, well balanced, well rounded and harmonious. A pleasure to drink and savor. No charring edges which I have lately often seen in wines of this vintage!
Has kept and evolved very well for a difficult year.
One more bottle in the cellar.
