It took 2 hours for the bottle to open up and it gets better with the evening. Good bouquet, smooth in the mouth, what l look for in a fine burgundy. Still a lot of life in it.

Interestingly, a vintage of DRC Eche I don’t recall tasting. A sound bottle, that somehow didn’t move me. Good, but not as impressive as its pedigree would suggest.

Complex nose of old furniture, rosebuds and ripe stems all presenting simultaneously. The palate was a touch mature but well resolved and delicate, revealing overripe cherries and a meaty, smoky side that emerged after 45 minutes in the glass. A little reticent at moments, this was a refined and elegant expression.

02755/18058, E/R/LT trio. Lightest but very approachable with sappy vintage red fruit and earthy character, very classically done. 93
