WIMPS La Trompette Cornucopia 2015. Shy nose to start, opening up over the course of the lunch to an array of complex notes: damp earth, raspberries, minerals and wet stone. Elegance in a glass. Fine tannins, complex, layered, balanced and harmonious.
Big beautiful bouquet of juicy black cherry, blackberry, currant, cassis, and candied / gummy. Not as remarkable as a nose as the '85 enjoyed alongside as the lead pencil and damp earth weren't as prevalent, but still great with elegant notes of sweet mint and menthol intermittent. Similar notes on the palate as the '85, ripe blackberry and dark cherry fruit with damp earth backing, but softer and with better integrated tannin. Elegant palate that paired perfectly with duck breast. Would definitely buy more of this.
