Opened early, shaken like Stevens, and given a good old swirl in the Sensory. Ah yes, Fourrier style on the nose with all that attractive red fruit. The palate delivers but this wine is starting to lose the JMF signature and show signs of MSD terroir and some autumnal decay . Perhaps just pinching up a little on the finish too and lacks a little finesse compared to the straight Gevrey VV '11 which is a decent effort in the vintage. A top 3* for me today.

5/12, vg cork. Pale/medium ruby/garnet core, wide pale garnet rim. Aromatic, strawberry fruit, some spice, soil. Florals. Medium bodied, elegant, strawberry, red cherry, spice, touch of game, very fine tannin, vibrant acidity, good length spicy, red fruited finish. Excellent.

From 75cl, perfect cork, opened but not decanted one hour. Exquisite strawberry/beef consommée/gently herbal/morello scent; surprisingly big-bodied entry with perfectly sweet fruit core, nice dark complexity (licquorice?); super-ripe acidic gain on the thrilling mid-palate; just a hint of tannins to keep things structured on the long, tingling finish. Villages Burgundy doesn't get better (or more concentrated) than this drop-dead gorgeous MSD - the only serious competition in my memory was a 2009 Camille Giroud Vosne Romanée opened at a similar age. Anytime from now - ?? 93P

Much more nuanced than the previous bottle, with an airy mix of deep cherry fruit, stems, orange peel, and a touch of wood. A refreshing mineral and slightly bitter finish. Gained weight on the second evening, but lost some appeal. Very nice.

Pale, gorgeous strawberry inflected Morey, with a touch of mint and citrus twist, a real beauty
