January Vosne Village Level Tasting: Splash decant and then into the glasses. Had a gorgeous nose initially of lavender and rose. Then the nose shut down for a few hours before opening back up again. On the palate this was light, elegant and really beautiful. This is definitely the house style from my experience. Very little new oak detected and simple in all the right ways. It lacked depth but I think that is a function of Champs Perdrix and the vintage more than anything. Classy wine if not a tad on the simple side. I think there is still upside from here though as the fruit was entirely primary throughout the evening.

Drinking well now with a little bottle air. Gained some matured notes. I liked it more when it was younger, more vibrant and with more defined notes. Still, overall quite enjoyable.

Surprisingly good for a village. Nose kept evolving through the night. Ripe blue berry fruits, black tea, vanilla oak, some spice. Soft and warm, with smooth tannins. Still young but already very attractive and with good potential. I'll try this again in another 1-2 years.

(Perrot-Minot Christophe Vosne-Romanée) Medium, medium-plus colour. The nose is higher-toned than the Chambolle and has many dimensions - very impressive. Ripe but fresh fruit and super balance. Lovely.

Surprice - a 2006 that where not dull. Nose was full of spice and VR character. Taste was again very typical VR and quite long finish.
